We are located in a grade II listed historic building in the historic Jewellery Quarter. You can find us on the ground floor of the New Standard Works building in Vittoria Street. Formally a jewellery manufactory, today you can eat at an award-winning vegetarian organic café, take part in craft workshops, enjoy exhibitions, events and connect with us in many different ways.
We are socially and environmentally responsible.
We are part of a vibrant, inclusive community of makers and creatives and we also run an exciting heritage programme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
We are socially enterprising. We hire out our spaces to generate income which enables us to continue offering free and low-cost activities for our community partners. Please do consider us when looking for a place to hold an event or meeting and help us pay it forward.
At The Hive we are proud to offer an inclusive and friendly welcome to all our visitors.
We are part of the Ruskin Mill Trust family
Ruskin Mill Trust is a charity that provides inspiring education and care to young people with learning differences and complex needs who struggle to engage in learning in a mainstream provision. New Standard Works had previously stood empty for over 20 years before a five year regeneration project by sister charity The Ruskin Mill Land Trust to bring our magnificent historic building back into use.
Argent College is located on the upper floors and focuses on providing practical skills and therapeutic education to its students. This practical curriculum was one of the main drivers for setting up The Hive; the students are an integral part of our enterprise; they are learning to bake, prepare and serve food in the cafe, and support our public engagement programme.
